This Homemade Holiday Peppermint Mocha is the perfect beverage to kick off the holiday season!
What kind of a “coffee person” are you? A little cream and sugar? Latte? Cappuccino? Tons of flavorings so it doesn’t taste like coffee at all? Maybe you’re boring like me and just like to drink it black? OR, maybe you don’t even like coffee at all (that’s strange…. :)).
On most days, I don’t like to add anything to my coffee. Maybe a little cream if I’m feeling adventurous. Around the holidays though…it’s a different story. Come December, peppermint flavored everything is my jam, including coffee. Peppermint just makes everything more festive. That’s why I put together this recipe for a homemade holiday peppermint mocha. It’s basically a Christmas miracle.
Sure, you can go to Starbucks this time of year for their holiday beverages. They’ve got peppermint mochas, caramel brulee lattes, toasted white chocolate mochas. I get it, those sound absolutely delicious. But did you know a grande peppermint mocha from Starbucks has over 50 grams of sugar?! And it’s like $5. No shame in enjoying that every once in a while, but if you make your own at home you can control how much sugar goes in it AND save some money. Win-win. Another reason why I love the thought of making your own coffee drinks at home is that you can adjust it to your tastes.
This homemade holiday peppermint mocha includes 7 simple ingredients:
- Cashew butter
- Peppermint extract
- Vanilla extract
- Unsweetened almond milk
- Maple syrup or honey
- Cocoa power
After combining all ingredients together in a blender, you can add toppings of your choice to your homemade peppermint mocha. Whipped cream, chocolate sauce, Christmas cookie sprinkles, shaved chocolate or candy cane – all of these are amazing additions.
A homemade peppermint mocha is best enjoyed while cozied up on the couch next to the Christmas tree. Bonus points if you have a good book in hand with a cute dog cuddled up next to you 🙂
