This may be my last post for a while because the next couple of months are going to be super busy…because, well, Joe and I are getting married in two months from tomorrow! It feels like just yesterday that I was announcing on the blog that we were engaged and now we are about 60 days away from the big day. I want to spend the next couple months taking it allllllll in as we prepare for our wedding day and do my best to not stress (although I’ve had a couple of freakout moments already….ha). I’ll be back to blogging on a regular basis come fall!
Alright, so let’s take a step back because I realize I just said “come fall” and we need to make sure that we are focused on SUMMER right now. Is it just me or does summer seem to go by faster and faster every year? I can’t believe it’s already the middle of August. Luckily, we’re still enjoying some steamy weather in Minnesota this week and I have the perfect recipe to pair with it: a Peach Mango Smoothie!
I couldn’t NOT post a peach-related recipe this month, because August is National Peach Month after all. Peaches are pretty much my favorite fruit, and mangoes are right behind them. For the last few months, every time I bite into a mango, it takes me right back to when I was in the Dominican Republic for my friend Chelsey’s wedding in April. Mmmmmmmm. Both fruits are juicy, delicious, and perfect for summertime. Which is why they both are featured in this smoothie recipe.
Besides their delicious flavor, why do peaches and mangoes deserve a place in your diet? Well, they are high in some powerful antioxidants such as letein, zeaxanthin, and beta-cryptoxanthin. Yep, those are some big words – all you really need to know is that these help protect your cells from free radicals, which are molecules that can cause inflammation in your body. Peaches and mangoes are also high-fiber foods, and provide a number of vitamins and minerals: from vitamin C, to potassium, to vitamin A. You’re getting a whole lot of bang for your buck when it comes to nutrition from peaches and mangoes.
Another star of the show in this smoothie recipe is the Rootz Nutrition Chocolate Banana Nut Protein Superfood that I added. Also, just because I use something that is “paleo” does not mean I follow a paleo diet or think my clients should follow a paleo diet. It tastes good, it’s pretty healthy, and it’s all okay!
NOTE that you do NOT have to use Rootz Nutrition in this smoothie to make it taste good. Maybe you have a different favorite protein powder, or maybe you don’t want to use protein powder at all! That’s okay. Make it how you want it.

Peach Mango Smoothie:
- 1 cup almond milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1-2 scoops protein powder, such as Rootz Nutrition Chocolate Banana Nut Protein Superfood
- 2 tbsp chia seeds
- ½ of a banana - cut into small pieces (frozen)
- 1 peach (fresh or frozen)
- ½ of a mango (fresh of frozen - save & freeze the other half for another smoothie!)
- Combine all ingredients together. Blend until smooth. Add extra almond milk or water, if needed to blend more easily.
